We’ll give you a special pair of laser safety glasses to wear that will protect you from the laser. These will completely block the laser light and keep your eyes safe during treatment. Dr. Gill will also wear special glasses or goggles to protect her eyes while keeping her vision clear during your treatment.
Laser dentistry is virtually pain-free. That’s why most patients can skip the anesthetic, and get treatment without numbing their mouths. Laser dentistry doesn't hurt because there’s no pressure or uncomfortable vibrations.
In addition, the powerful laser cauterizes (seals) nerve endings upon contact. This means that, even if you’re having some tissue removed, you likely won’t feel any pain or discomfort. This is also the reason why bleeding is reduced with lasers. The laser seals up the tiny blood vessels in your mouth upon contact.
Laser fillings can take as little as 10-20 minutes, but it really depends on the extent of your condition. It could take up to 30-60 minutes.
